Also, as Christians, let's remember the One that came to truly set us free.

John 8:31-36 (ESV)
31 So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed in him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples,
32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
33 They answered him, “We are offspring of Abraham and have never been enslaved to anyone. It’s your day. Besides, you can always do double duty and catch up on Monday!

Let's make sure that we take time to honor our moms today. Make a phone call, take her out to eat, get her flowers, by all means let her know that she is special.

Maybe there is someone reading this that does not have a warm, fuzzy feeling when they think of their mom. One of God's Top Ten says to "Honor your father and mother that your days may be long on the earth." I would encourage you to find something to honor her for... even if it is just the fact that you wouldn't be here without her.

I thank God for my Godly mother.

Ecclesiastes 11:5-6 (ESV)
5 As you do not know the way the spirit comes to the bones in the womb of a woman with child, so you do not know the work of God who makes everything.
6 In the morning sow your seed, and at evening withhold not your hand, for you do not know which will prosper, this or that, or whether both alike will be good.

The Three Stooges movie came out recently... funny stuff... unless it happens in real life. Solomon continues to tell us, in Ecclesiastes 9:13-10:7, that wisdom is better than folly. However, the reality is it only takes one imbecile to mess things up, but cheer up God and His people eventually win out over the "idiots."

Carpe vitam means "seize life", that's what God is telling us to do in Ecclesiastes 9:1-12. Solomon tells us to not waste the days of our life and that we should enjoy life. Kind of like the saying, "God is most glorified in us, when we are most satisfied in Him."

I said that this also is vanity.
15 And I commend joy, for man has no good thing under the sun but to eat and drink and be joyful, for this will go with him in his toil through the days of his life that God has given him under the sun.

How can we live "The Good Life" in a world that where bad things happen to good people and good things happen to bad people? Solomon gives us some ideas in Ecclesiastes 8:2-17. We can enjoy the good life and that's what we'll find out at church this week. See you there.

This is vanity; it is a grievous evil.

One of the questions to ponder in life is, "What is true wealth?" When I ask that I mean as defined by God's Word. True wealth is not so much what you have or how much... but rather do you enjoy what you have?

Short post but a very important question. You see as John Piper has said, "God is most glorified in us, when we are most satisfied in Him."

These verses from Ecclesiastes list four main reasons that we have lousy relationships: Envy, laziness, overwork, and dissatisfaction. Any of these sound familiar? They sure do to me... much more than I would care to admit. That's what I love about the book of Ecclesiastes, it tackles the common problems that we deal with head on.
